Two schoolgirls disappeared in Kiselevsk on September 6. Two 10-year-old schoolgirls, Ulyana Degtyar and Anastasia Fesler from Kiselevsk (Kemerovo region), went to school on September 6 and did not return home. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the girls left their homes at about 08:00 (04:00 Moscow time) and disappeared.

On the night of September 7, their parents reported the missing children to the police. At the same time , footage from a surveillance camera from a local store appeared on social networks , which captured the missing girls and an unfamiliar man.An unknown man treated the girls to sweets and took them to the side of the garages

The seller of the store where the girls were last seen told the police that an unknown man collected a cart full of sweets for the schoolgirls, and then took them to the side of the garages. At the same time, the girls themselves allegedly called the stranger “Uncle Vitya”. Video footage from security cameras confirmed the seller’s words. After that, the policemen with dogs went in search of the girls.

At the same time, local residents said that the schoolgirls were seen near the parking lot on Matrosov and Moskovskaya streets. An unknown man, according to eyewitnesses, at about 19:00 led Ulyana and Anastasia towards the Arbat shopping center.

The girls were found murdered the day after they disappeared. Investigators for especially important cases and criminologists left for the scene. They began to comb the area, establish a circle of friends for schoolgirls, check the addresses of acquaintances, classmates and relatives to whom they could go.

The bodies of Ulyana Degtyar and Anastasia Fesler were found the next day, at about 11:00 Moscow time. Operatives tracked the 41-year-old local resident Viktor Pesternikov, and soon he confessed to killing the girls and showed the police the place where he hid the bodies.

At first, the detainee denied his involvement in the crime: he said that he had allegedly bought seeds for the girls, walked with them to the concrete road, where they fed the pigeons, and left. However, later, during interrogation, Pesternikov admittedthat he first raped the children and then strangled them. It is known that earlier Pesternikov served time for violent acts of a sexual nature and was released two years ago.

Viktor Pesternikov – the alleged paedophile killer of schoolgirls in Kiselevsk

This is the second high-profile murder of children in Russia in recent years.

The tragedy in Kiselevsk has become the second resonant crime against children that has occurred in Russia in recent years. Earlier in Tyumen, eight-year-old Nastya Muravyova went missing: she left home on June 30 and never returned. For a long time, volunteers and residents of the city were looking for the schoolgirl. Her body was found on August 19 near the lake, 2.5 kilometers from the house. Soon, law enforcement officers were able to find the suspect – he turned out to be Vitaly Berezhnoy.

The police identified the killer thanks to the newspaper in which the body was wrapped, and a box of household appliances, which became the main evidence in the case.
